Overview

Sangeeta Ahluwalia (she/her/hers) is associate research department director for the Behavioral and Policy Sciences Department and a senior policy researcher at the RAND Corporation. She is also an adjunct associate professor of health policy at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Ahluwalia conducts research in two areas: 1) improving access and quality of end-of-life care and 2) improving public health emergency preparedness and response. Her end-of-life care research centers on quality measure development, evidence synthesis, and delivery system interventions to enhance advance care planning communication. She is currently project director of a CMS-funded effort to develop patient-reported quality measures for outpatient palliative care, and recently completed an NIH-funded grant to evaluate group visits for advance care planning. Her public health emergency research includes efforts to improve syndromic surveillance and understand individual-level barriers and facilitators to preparedness and response. She is an experienced qualitative researcher and is a fellow of the NIMH/VA Implementation Research Institute. Ahluwalia received her Ph.D. in health policy and M.A. in political science from UC Berkeley, and her M.P.H from UCLA.
