Overview

Shamena Anwar is an economist at the RAND Corporation. Her main areas of interest include evaluating criminal justice system reforms and studying racial disparities. Her previous work has examined the role that race plays in areas such as motor vehicle searches, parole release decisions, and healthcare outcomes. She has also done a series of projects investigating the impact that jury characteristics such as race, age, zip code, and political party have on criminal trial outcomes. Her previous research has used a wide range of research designs to assess causal effects and has been published in journals including the American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, and The Journal of Law and Economics. She received her Ph.D. in economics from Yale University.
