Alison Athey

Alison Athey (she/her) is an associate behavioral/social scientist at RAND and a licensed clinical psychologist. Her research interests include suicide prevention programs and policies, traumatic bereavement, and the development of scalable and equitable mental health services for high-risk, underserved populations. Her research uses primary data collection with clinical populations, data linkage, and mixed quantitative and qualitative research methods to assess risk and protective factors for poor clinical outcomes. Athey has extensive experience conducting clinical assessments, clinical program development and evaluation in the context of the Veterans Health Administration, and interacting with diverse stakeholders. Athey has authored more than 20 scientific papers and has supported the creation of actionable program evaluation tools, including data dashboards.
