Overview

Kanaka Shetty is a physician policy researcher at the RAND Corporation. He is also an affiliate faculty member at the Pardee RAND Graduate School and a practicing hospital-based internist. His current research assesses quality measurement programs with a focus on provider impact as well as quality measure development. Shetty has also developed methods for better analyzing medical literature, including methods for detecting adverse drug reactions using publication trends within PubMed. In addition, he has researched the use of machine learning and text mining for improving the efficiency of conducting systematic reviews for the AHRQ-sponsored Southern California Evidence-based Practice Center. Most recently, he has been an investigator on several projects investigating the impact of potential drug price regulations. Shetty earned his M.D. from New York University and his M.S. in health service research from Stanford University.
