This guide supports the implementation of an empowerment-based domestic violence program within a family court setting. This guide was developed to share the best practices learned during the Safe Horizon Family Court evaluation study, which examined the functioning and processes of Safe Horizon's Family Court Program. Safe Horizon, based in New York City, is the largest nonprofit organization serving survivors of crime and abuse in the United States. Services provided by Safe Horizon's Family Court Program include case management, advocacy, crisis intervention, and a safe place for survivors to wait for hearings in each of the city's five boroughs.

This guide may be useful for researchers and practitioners interested in implementing a family court–based intervention. It provides background on the Safe Horizon Family Court Program and practical considerations for structuring and implementing a similar program.
